Meet the Team

Mala and Dan were married at Frisby Lakes in 2018, celebrating with a relaxed and picturesque ceremony overlooking the lake. At the time, Mala was working as a primary school teacher, but following the birth of their daughter, Freyja, she joined the family business and became a valued member of Team Frisby.

Mala now manages the waterside café, where she combines her organisational skills with a passion for hospitality. Fully qualified in food hygiene, she runs the café with efficiency and attention to detail, ensuring a consistently high standard for all visitors.

During the winter of 2024/25, Mala led a comprehensive refurbishment of the café. This included a full electrical rewire, external recladding and insulation, and a complete kitchen upgrade featuring the installation of a high-performance Merrychef oven. The addition of a log-burning stove has further enhanced the space, creating a warm and welcoming environment for lodge owners, walkers, cyclists, horse riders, and lake users alike. The cosy atmosphere has proven especially popular with open water swimmers during the colder months.

In addition to her on-site responsibilities, Mala plays a key role in managing Frisby Lakes’ social media presence, producing engaging and consistent content that reflects the character of the business. As a Leicester local, she is also the team’s go-to for recommendations when the opportunity for a well-earned evening out arises.
